Weiss are your experts in combustion and boiler technologies

Bo Johansen, Export Sales Manager of Weiss A/S, for Energy Review Magazine

What are the benefits of biomass combustion? What solutions are offered by Weiss A/S?

Companies can improve their fuel economy considerably when biomass is transformed into process steam. By using biofuels, our customers gain the economic and environmental benefits at once.

Based on years of experience and know-how regarding combustion and boiler technologies for solid fuels (biomass), Weiss is offering a cost effective and environment-friendly energy production which is suitable and economically feasible on a large scale. There are Weiss plants operating in several countries around the world. Weiss A/S manufactures and sells large combustion boiler plants for district heating, process steam and other applications with output ranges from 1,0 MW to 30 MW per boiler line.

How many projects have been completed on Bulgarian market so far?

Weiss already has 4 pc boiler installations in service at 3 different locations. Our Bulgarian customers can easily see the benefit of replacing gas by burning straw or wood chips. All existing in Bulgaria installations are steam boilers, which produce saturated or superheated steam for production processes within food or alcohol production. Weiss also holds 2 new orders for installation of another 3 pc steam boiler lines in 2015. The capacities of the steam boiler installations are from 7 MWt to 16 MWt, producing 10-21,5 ton steam per hour.

Are modern combustion technologies the right way to produce energy and reduce waste?

By installing the Weiss boilers we are replacing expensive and constant increasing gas with unused biomass already present in huge quantities in Bulgaria. Weiss’ installations are based on more than 30 year experience producing reliable energy out of biomass with a high availability in the installations. Weiss is also focusing on the market of decentralized energy solutions for producing combined heat and electrical power by burning household and industrial waste (RDF) in smaller scale energy plant from 4 MWt to 15 MWt. We see an increasing interest for burning the waste in smaller units instead of transporting huge quantities of waste on the roads.
